Lakota and Maria
This original photograph
was taken during my visit to Fiji, where I volunteered to assist in teaching in
the Yasawa region. Volunteering not only allowed me to give back to those who
were derived of the most simplest of things that we take for granted, but it
also added value to my life and personal morals. It was quite phenomenal
witnessing hundreds of children smiling endlessly, despite the fact that they
lived very basic lives and lacked necessary resources - fresh water in particular. The children I had the privilege to work with
brought such spirit and joy to the classroom everyday. I have chosen this
original photograph to be placed into the context of ‘something beautiful’ as
it is truly a beautiful thing to make a difference.
